Decease
When you pass away, PCN is not automatically informed. Your surviving relatives have to inform PCN of your decease. If there is a right to dependant´s and/or orphan’s pension, PCN will subsequently contact your surviving relatives. Any benefit of a special dependant’s pension (to an ex partner) is automatically processed by PCN.
When your partner passes away
When your partner passes away, it has no consequences for your PCN pension. We do request you to inform us of the decease of your partner.
When your child passes away
The decease of a child has no consequences for your PCN pension. You do not have to inform us of the decease of a child.
Bereavement allowance
If you already receive a retirement pension from PCN and you pass away, PCN continues to pay your pension benefit to your surviving relatives for three months. If there are no surviving relatives and other people have incurred costs with regard to your decease, they can be entitled to a bereavement allowance. In that case, please contact one of our offices.
Orphan’s pension for children receiving education or disabled children
Orphans up to the age of 21, receive an orphan’s pension from PCN. Orphans between ages 21 and 25 are entitled to an orphan’s pension if they are receiving education or are disabled. They have to demonstrate it with the form Studie- of invaliditeitsverklaring wezen tussen 21 en 25 jaar. If an orphan is or has been married, the right to orphan’s pension is lost.
